A Very Short, One-Night White Peak Wander

Many thanks to Dale – both for his company and his patience.

Day One – 4 miles

Geoff kindly dropped us off in Hope, from where it was steadily uphill to Rowter Farm campsite.

It was hot, but at least this way up was very quiet.

The site comes into view.

Not too busy looking.

I was trying out the new Anjan 2.

I was also trying out my new table and this new meal. The meal was particularly bland, but the table was good.

Day Two – 4 miles

Today ended up being the hottest day of the year, so far.

Mam Tor up ahead.

Sunbathing cows.

The big gash in the ground is Winnats Pass.

The Great Ridge in the direction of Lose Hill.

The Great Ridge in the direction of Mam Tor.

Kinder Plateau, from the Great Ridge.

We left the ridge at Hollins Cross, to drop down to Castleton.

A Strawberry Split and a Cornetto – just one.

In Castleton, sat by a shady stream, waiting for Geoff.

    1. Thanks Ian ๐Ÿ˜Š
I can remember when the Mam Tor road was still open and it always seemed to have road works and traffic lights on it ๐Ÿ˜‚ They were ‘fire fighting’ the landslides for years before they finally gave up….

  1. Thought I recognised Mam Tor! That horsebox butty wagon is funny ๐Ÿ˜‰

We haven’t had any really hot weather since it all ended at the end of May. I like the White Peak and we’d like to visit it some more via a stay at Buxton again some time.

    1. It was really too hot for me, so I was so relieved to see they sold ice cream as well as tea and coffee!
Another stay at Buxton would be lovely I’m sure. It’s easy to overlook the White Peak but it has a lot of charm ๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. I tried to buy a choc-ice the other day in my dinner hour as it was pretty warm. Keswick was heaving and they’d all been eaten… except one… and that had been left on a biscuits shelf and was completely melted. No idea why someone would do that! ๐Ÿ˜

  2. Hi Chrissie, was a bit surprised to read that Adventure Food meal was bland? I’ve tended to find them really good (and I did write to them about their use of palm oil…the only brand listing it in their ingredients of all the brands I had with me on a long trip. Either they were being honest or they’re the only one…but they did send me their policy statements…).
