Insect Shield Clothing

I’ve been taking a bit of an interest in Insect Shield clothing of late…… ๐Ÿ˜

I know you can treat your favourite stuff with permethrin, and I’m quite happy to do that, but I thought I’d see what I could find that’s already pre-treated, just out of interest.

For years now I’ve been using Rohan Trailblazers for most of my walking, and they come pre-treated with Insect Shield, so that’s great. I did buy myself a couple of pairs of rather nice Arc’teryx ones last summer though, so I will have to do those myself.

I was particularly interested though in stuff for sleeping in. When camping, I always wear leggings, a hooded baselayer and some light weight socks. To my surprise, I’ve been able to replace all these with pre-treated clothes, none of which weigh any more than the ones I normally use.

The socks and the leggings come from the Craghoppers Nosilife range:

And the hooded top from an American brand – Simms – who specialise in fishing gear:

Incidentally, Simms do make a women’s version of this top too, but men’s tops generally fit me better.

It’s amazing how useful the Internet can be!

  1. That’s really useful info thanks. I’m going to look into some of those for my lower body in the hope I won’t pick up so many ticks. The upper half of my body spends a lot of time uncovered when I’m walking and I don’t camp as such…

    1. When you start thinking about ticks grabbing onto your trousers as you’re walking along, before slowly climbing up your legs, something that may actually kill them, never mind make them think twice, seems quite appealing, doesn’t it?!
