A couple of weeks ago, it was Tilly’s first time backpacking. This weekend was my friend Kim’s.
Kim does lots of walking but has never wild camped before, and has been wanting to have a go and see what we all enthuse about.
We couldn’t have chosen a more idyllic weekend for a first trip!
Superb views, superb weather, a bubbling stream nearby,
and pleasantly cool as it neared sunset.
A heavy mist rolled in overnight, but by breakfast time the next morning the sun was making a nice job of burning it off.
A rather warm 10 mile walk home.
Passing some local landmarks on the way.
I think she enjoyed it.
Maybe she’ll do it again.
Picked a good weekend for it, she’ll soon be hassling you for more, once the wild camping bug has bitten (see what I did there) you’re hooked

Ever the sparkling wit Andy, don’t know how you think of them…. 🙂
But thank goodness there weren’t any midges out last night!

Is that everyone’s favorite wild camping spot in the Peak District whose location shall remain a secret!?

Given the weather, Mark, I was so surprised that there was no-one else there when we got there, or who arrived later! We had been talking to two guys on the way in though, who were going to camp somewhere up around Bleaklow Stones. Thought we might have been able to spot them from where we were, but we couldn’t. 🙂

Smashing looking weather, makes a change from tramping through bogs 🙂

It was really dry – when Geoff’s been out on Kinder earlier this week, he’s had to carry extra water for Tilly.

I hit the wrong button, doh!
I think I recognise that wreckage. But I’ll not say anymore, so to keep the location a secret… 😉

An excellent wild camp thanks!
Yes, it’s probably quite a well known wreckage to anyone who’s interested in them 🙂

It’s not proper camping if you don’t get soaking wet all day, freeze to death and try to hold a hurricane-blown tent down all night, and get up to cold, soggy wet clothing in the morning!
She was very lucky to have such good weather for a first wild camping trip – hope she knows that!

I’m sure if she goes again the weather will be far more realistic!
